What began with a single tip-off led the NSPCA to uncover mass abandonment on a national scale: over one million chickens left to die on multiple farms operated by Daybreak Foods, a state-funded company that simply walked away when it collapsed financially. There were no plans for care. No plans for humane euthanasia. Just rows upon rows of starving animals — trapped and forgotten.The NSPCA intervened, not to save lives, but to end the unimaginable suffering. The emotional and financial toll of this ongoing operation has been enormous. Yet inspections, rescues, and legal proceedings continue as the NSPCA fights to hold those responsible accountable.
